The Krzuk Family of Wieluń Collection

Where it started

On 14 July 2026 Wojciech Knaga of the Museum of the Wieluń Land wrote to my father asking for digital copies of the photographs we had shown him on a phone during a visit to the museum's exhibition on the outbreak of the war — for the main exhibition monitor and for future publications on the history of the town.

An unsolicited request, from a municipal institution, for material only this family holds.

The position

Nothing is given loose. The photograph goes on stated conditions; the wider material, if it goes, goes as a single named collection under a written agreement.

Conditions on the photograph: accessioned and credited as the gift of David Kershook on behalf of the Krzuk family; Zelda's name and the caption accompany it wherever it is shown or printed; no cropping that removes the family or the neighbouring stone; the family retains the right to publish it.

Terms sought for the collection: catalogued and displayed under its name; credited on every use; not divided or transferred; open to researchers and to descendants of Wieluń families; the family's own rights preserved.

Sequence

1. Reply to Mr Knaga: the photograph on conditions, the article offered, the collection proposed, the replica offered. Attach the donation statement and the Polish article — not the photograph, not the name-level directory data, not the family documents.
2. Send the file only on written acceptance of the terms.
3. Draft and agree the deposit agreement.
4. Later, and separately: the acknowledgement letter, archive access, grant applications with the museum as applicant.

• Jan Książek — director, and head of the history department. Author of Powiat wieluński w latach 1918–1939, which the directory article cites, and of the museum's only publication on the town's Jews (1993). The article belongs on his desk.
